My fifteen minutes
After spending a few hours being trailed by a reporter and then even more hours being followed by an eager photographer, here is the final result. I don't know if there weren't picture or if you just have to buy the newspaper to see them.
This experience has taught me several things.
1) I don't want to be on reality TV. Having people follow you around all the time to get a glimpse into your normal behavior is not normal. "Act natural" the photographer says. "Pretend I'm not here." Seconds later, "Where are we going? Is that something you normally do?"
2) I have no desire to be rich and famous. I'd settle for just being rich. In addition to the constant clicks of the camera there was the reporter that sometimes followed close behind scribbling notes. I became very cognizant that anything I said might come out in print.
3) I really like living here and am proud of my retirement home. As I was forced to answer questions like, "Why do you like living here?" or "How does living here relate to your education?" it made me reexamine and appreciate how great an opportunity it is to live here. I appreciate that the residents allow me into their lives in this way.

A good article. Nothing scary. Will you autograph my computer screen?
Congrats! I think that was a spectacular article. I have only been in the newspaper for having a baby and getting married. HEEHEH!!
Nice article but the way I figure, you didn't get mentioned enough to exhaust your 15 minutes. By my calculations, you still have another 13 1/2 more minutes of fame left in you.
Thanks for sharing the link, I was looking forward to it! The article was very well written and I actually enjoyed reading the story (but I must admit that I like it better when you tell us about your own experiences with the residents). Anyhow, I am wondering what did they do with all the pictures they took? Eres famoso Shaun! Besos y saludos :)
WOW not bad..LA times! Proud of you.
Also looks like you have been published on both Coasts. I didn't even get into that newspaper and I went there. AS always you are the man...
