Terminal car troubles

I took my car to the shop. I had been having trouble with it for a while--an occasional "whrrrr" noise when I accelerated too quickly at high speeds. It also needed an oil change and as it turned out an air filter and some spark plugs too. For a day and a half the mechanic kept my car working on it and giving me occasional updates. Every time we talked he would tell me that he still hadn't heard the sound. Then at 5pm I received a call at work. "This is Jack. I heard the noise. I don't know what to tell you. Your engine is going." "What does that mean? What can I expect?" "If you keep driving it, one day you will throw a rod, your car will gush oil, and you will come to a stop. You need a new car." I took his statement and put it into terms I would understand. If my car were a person, it would be on hospice. Unfortunately this does not coincide well with my current financial situation. I am just about to spend lots of money on med school applications that need to go in this month. Oh well. Maybe later I'll tell the story of how I got the car. The car was a blessing. I did nothing to get the car so I guess I can't complain when it is taken away. (Jonah 4:9-10)

Haha! With 150K+ miles on it, my car is also on hospice. Unfortunately, it seems palative care is extremely expensive. I'm just hoping it lasts unitl residency.
