I'm a nerd (like we didn't already know that)

Exhibit A:
I was listening to NPR on my way home tonight (enough said) and heard the most amusing play. Ok so it might not have been amusing to other people. It was about 2 people living in a retirement home. I realized how much I was relating to the story. I was laughing, clapping at all the good parts (traffic was really slow), and singing with the music which I knew from sing-along at the retirement home. At times I was even talking out loud "that's so true!! It's just like that."
Memorable quote...or perhaps paraphrase:
"Sometimes it's the ones that talk that make you appreciate the ones who don't."
Exhibit B:
Today I decided that perhaps I needed to spend some time with people my own age. I went to a ward/institute activity at the beach. The weather was just perfect for such an activity. It had been a long time since I had been to the beach. I forgot how pretty a sunset over the ocean is on the west coast. (I have to put up with smog and traffic so let me gloat about the good parts). Anyway, as some of us were sitting around talking I happened to make eye contact with Allana who gave a "what's up" head nod. The following conversation ensued.
Marcella: You gave the cool kid head nod. The kind that goes up. Not the nerdy one that goes down.
Shaun: Now I'm trying to figure out which one I do. I think I go down.
Marcella: Well...it's not nerdy, it's just...I don't know.
Shaun: I think the two different types of nods serve different purposes. The upwards motion is more of a question as if to say, "What's up?" The downward motion is more of a statement as if to say "I'm acknowledging you."
As I listened to myself analyzing the meaning behind these two gestures I realized that maybe Marcella was right in the first place. The downwards head nod probably is the one that nerds use.

There is beach-going weather where you're at? That really chaps my hide. Will winter here NEVER END????
I do the upwards nod when I'm acknowledging a homie, and a downwards nod when I'm acknowledging a boring person.
I don't think of it as "cool" versus "nerdy". It's more like "hip" versus "professional". At least, that's what I tell myself.
which beach?
dockweiler beach. Not the prettiest beach, but a beach none the less. Plus you get to watch the planes take off over your head.
And great company.
PS your not a nerd you are a total hustler, dont ever forget that.
so after reading this i totally did the nods trying to see which one i did--i think i'm a nerd for that!
we are all nerds deep in our hearts hihihihihi
